Leave The Fluff Out of Your Resume
As a sequel to my previous post: Bolster Your Resume, I highly recommend not putting a summary of subjective information at the top of your resume.
It is just "fluff" and doesn't really make you stand out in any concrete manner. Only provide objective information on your resume about your accomplishments and technical skills.
Therefore, please refrain from listing multiple bullet points about the fact that you have: "superior analytical skills," "exceptional leadership ability," or "proven ability to _" etc., if you catch my drift.
Leave it to your recruiter to market you to hiring managers and sell how great you really are. Once an interview is scored, your recruiter should prep you on how to be successful and seal the deal.
Similarly, refrain from putting vague objectives at the top of your resume such as: "seeking a position at a company where I can add value and grow professionally."
This is also "fluff" and takes up space steering people away from the substance of your resume. I advise not even putting an objective at all. If you have any questions, or would like to sign up for a career coaching session, please email me at jen@caliberrecruiting.com
